On June 26, the World Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, representatives of the National Youth Council of Ukraine – NYCUkraine, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the National Police of Ukraine, Kyiv City Center for Social Services for Families, Children and Youth, Kyiv Narcological Clinical Hospital ” Sociotherapy ”, the All-Ukrainian Association of People with Drug Addiction discussed in an expert circle the prevention of drug trafficking and how state bodies and civil society institutions can help people with drug addiction to reintegrate into society. The discussion also discussed the important issue of how to socialize young people to promote their development, as well as to prevent and prevent drug use and addiction among young people.

The fight against drugs has been going on for decades and proves that forceful methods of struggle are ineffective. Punitive drug policy is directed primarily against those who use drugs, not against those who sell and distribute them.
In my opinion, the main factor in drug addiction is the social factor. A person’s environment, family relationships (especially children with parents), friends, economic status and general well-being affect the risks of starting drugs and becoming addicted. Factors such as physical, sexual and psychological violence, living under constant stress, and family harassment can significantly increase the likelihood of starting and becoming addicted to drugs.
